Serial Comm Registry Key OVERVIEW The JNIOR (Models 410, 412 and 414) support two serial ports, the COM RS-232 Port and the AUX Serial port. Both ports may be used by application programs to communicate with and control other devices. By default the COM port provides Diagnostic output information which generally reports status during the boot process. Once the product is up and running the COM port may be used to access to the JANOS Command Line Console. This can be disabled using the MODE command to insure dedicated communications with external equipment. The default communications parameters are 115.2K baud, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit with no parity or handshake. The COM port supports only 3-wire communications. This port does not include hardware handshake lines. The AUX port provides for RTS and CTS handshake signals which may be optionally enabled. In addition the AUX port on the Model 410 may be configured for RS-422 or RS-485 communications. In the latter case the output driver may be software controlled supporting multi-drop serial networks. NOTES Access to the Command Line Console may be enabled for the AUX Serial port on a session by session basis using the MODE command. The AUX Serial port is also supported by the IOLOG command. A bi-directional transmission log is maintained showing recent communications. This data can be displayed or saved to an auxio.log file for further analysis. It is a very useful diagnostic tool. The Model 412DMX eliminates the AUX Serial port. It is replaced by a dedicated DMX512 Universe 5-pin output. SEE ALSO HELP Topics: MODELS, COM, AUX, MODE, IOLOG [/flash/manpages/registry.hlp:3536]
